How Do We Teach?
Primary-school-age girls in our Soccer Leagues are coached by role models from communities like their own. Our primary coaches are MVPs, high-school-age girls we’ve trained to teach life skills through soccer. Our MVPs are coached in turn by our All Stars, a team of post-graduate young adults who develop curricula and manage community programs.

The goals of our coaches are:

  • Build young people’s skills in critical thinking and problem solving;
  • Strengthen positive norms and behaviors;
  • Engage in interactive and challenging examination of beliefs, biases that stand in the way of healthy attitudes and actions; and
  • Make a healthy environment on their team a memorable and fun part of their lives.

Our coaches teach through games, role-playing activities, and discussions — not lectures. It’s crucial that we don’t tell our athletes how to use a skill, but that we make each skill their own.
